EASSY is the ultimate link of era
EASSY effectively stands for Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System. This is a 10,000 kilometers undersea cable system that is essentially made up of a fibre optic. This can unbeatably connect eastern Africa with the other counties of the globe. EASSY runs from Mtunzini in South Africa to Sudan’s Port Sudan. In total there are nine landing points located in nine different counties of world covering Maputo in Mozambique, Toliary in Madagascar, Grande Comore in the Comoros, Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania, Mombasa in Kenya, Mogadishu in Somalia and Djibouti. Besides, it is diversely connected to at least ten countries which are landlocked. This cable system will avoid the need of an internet access via satellite in order to efficiently carry out services of data and voice.
Deep discovery of EASSY
EASSY is a system with an optimal capacity to serve the sub-Saharan Africa. With marvelous design capacity and configuration this cable system is exceptional. Its current lit capacity is 4.72 terabit per seconds and it has an innovative configuration of 2 fibre-pair. This is the prime cable system that can offer direct connectivity via east Africa and Europe or North America. Besides, EASSY is the first system with inbuilt integration of resilience which is perfectly from end to end. This cable system even offers interconnection with multiple submarine cable networks of globe to avail a diverse, onward connectivity which is seamless to America, Europe, Asia and Middle East. This project was initiated in 2003 after many companies revealed the feasibility of this cable system. This project was initially funded partly by the World Bank. Its service was commenced on 16th July 2010 and its official commercial service started on 30th July 2010.
EASSY is future of Africa
EASSY is firmly committed to provide its elite customers affordable, high speed connectivity of fibre optic within eastern and half of the southern Africa. The vision of providing this cable system was to provide cost effective and highest quality telecommunication access in Africa. This cable system can provide the efficacious service of voice, data, internet and video to the region since it is incorporated with the latest developments in the technology of submarine fibre optic. This is most economical connection of southern and eastern coast of Africa into a global telecommunication network which is of a very high speed.
It is quite interesting to explore that presently in a related project; investors in the system of EASSY are constructing fibre backhauls terrestrially in order to connect the landlocked countries to this cable. The services of this cable are only provided between landing stations with end to end management. These end to end services are offered via city to city or city to landing station across this novel cable system. The services of this cable system can be purchased via any of the members of consortium. These services are landing station to landing station or onward connectivity into Africa or globally. These offer options include short and long term contracts in addition to protected and restored services of EASSY.
